PostRSS publishes to Instagram by itself. It does not send a reminder to your phone and wait for you to finish the post by hand. That difference matters more than it sounds, because a large part of the Instagram scheduling market still works the second way.

Until 2018 Instagram had no public publishing interface at all. Tools that promised scheduling had only one honest option: store your post, and at the chosen time send a notification to your phone so you could open Instagram and finish it yourself. That is where the word “scheduler” came from in this corner of the market — it meant a reminder, not publishing.
Instagram later opened a real publishing interface, but the reminder mode never disappeared. Established tools still fall back to it, and their own help pages say so plainly: a post marked as sent may only mean the reminder was sent, and the post is not live until you tap it.
Publishing through Instagram’s interface happens in two steps, and PostRSS handles both:
There is no notification, no queue on your phone and no step that needs a human. A feed item published at three in the morning reaches Instagram at three in the morning.
Occasionally Instagram takes longer to process a picture. PostRSS checks the container’s state a few times, and if it is still not ready, the item is deferred rather than dropped — it goes back into the queue and is published shortly after. An unpublished container simply expires on Instagram’s side, so this never produces a duplicate post.
If Instagram reports an actual error with the image, the item is not retried forever. The reason is recorded and shown, because repeating a request that cannot succeed only hides the problem.
Yes. Meta’s publishing documentation describes the interface without any requirement for a human to confirm, and it explicitly discusses applications that let people schedule posts in advance — it even asks such applications to check the daily publishing limit themselves, which PostRSS does. Scheduling and automatic publishing are the same thing from Instagram’s side; the only difference is who decides the moment. With PostRSS, that decision is made by a new item in your feed.
Do I need the Instagram app installed?
No. Nothing about publishing happens on your phone.
Can I still post manually?
Of course. PostRSS publishes what your feed produces; your own posts are unaffected.
What if I want posts to go out at a specific hour?
Target time settings control when items are published, the same as for every other network in PostRSS.
