Fediverse

The fediverse is the loose network of independently run, interconnected social platforms — including Mastodon, Pixelfed, Lemmy, and others — that communicate using the open ActivityPub protocol instead of relying on one company's servers. Because each platform and instance sets its own rules, automation and posting behavior that works on one fediverse service can be treated very differently on another. This tag collects practical guides on what auto-posting and RSS distribution actually look like across the fediverse in 2026, platform by platform. In PostRSS terms the Fediverse destinations are Mastodon, Misskey, Lemmy and PieFed, Pixelfed and Nostr, Mastodon on every plan and the rest from the Start plan. The practical differences matter more here than the shared protocol does: one network wants a link post, another wants an image and skips items without one, and a third is a journal that takes the whole article.
