Source Settings You Can Adjust Today

The source options have grown since this update was first announced. Each RSS or Atom source in PostRSS now carries its own set of controls:

• Check interval. Choose how often the source is checked, from every 5 minutes up to once a week. Enterprise plans can check every minute.
• Start date and catch-up. Pick the date to start from, and PostRSS can also post older feed items that were never published.
• Keyword filters. List words to include or exclude; PostRSS matches them in the item title and description and posts only the items that fit.
• Order and volume. Publish newer items first, older first or in random order, and set the maximum number of posts per update.
• Hashtags from categories. The categories and tags of each item can become hashtags, up to a set limit, on networks where hashtags make sense.

Message Formats: What Each Post Is Built From

How a post reads is decided by its message format. PostRSS offers nine formats built from the item title, the item description, the page title or your own static text. A short title and link suits fast-moving networks, while a title with a description reads better on a Facebook Page or a blog. Because the format belongs to each target, one source can produce a different style of post on every network it feeds.

Pictures follow the same logic: PostRSS takes the image from the feed item or from the page’s Open Graph tags, so posts carry the real article picture.

Tracking What Each Source Brings

You can add your own query parameters, such as utm_source=postrss, to every link PostRSS posts. With a separate campaign value per source or per network, your analytics shows exactly which feed and which channel send visitors, which makes it easy to decide where more content is worth the effort. Where do I find the source settings?

They are part of each source’s details in your PostRSS account: the check interval, start date, keyword filters, order and posting volume are all set per feed.

How often is my feed checked?
