How to Auto-Post RSS to RingCentral Team Messaging (2026)

Updated: 2026-09-28

Short answer: add the Incoming Webhook integration to a RingCentral team conversation, copy its URL and paste it into PostRSS under Accounts → Add new RingCentral Team Messaging account. Then open Mērķi → Add feed, choose RingCentral in Target settings and add your feed under Add source (Type = RSS feed, Link = your feed address). Each new item is posted with its text and a link. RingCentral Team Messaging is included from the Professional plan.

RingCentral is better known for phone systems than for chat, which means its Team Messaging side is often already deployed across an organisation without anyone thinking of it as a chat tool to integrate with. If your colleagues are reachable there, it is a good place for the updates they currently find out about by accident. This guide is the long version; the auto-post RSS to RingCentral Team Messaging page has the short one.

How the webhook works

All of these connect the same way, and it is worth being clear about what that means. An incoming webhook is created inside the channel or workspace by somebody who can administer it, the platform returns a URL, and anything holding that URL can post into that one place. There is no developer account, no application to submit and nothing to get approved.

The security consequence is blunt: the URL is the credential. No username, no token exchange, no second factor. Keep it out of public repositories, shared documents and support tickets, and treat regenerating it as the way to revoke access.

One feed per team, not one feed everywhere

RingCentral Team Messaging is organised around teams, and that structure is worth using rather than working around. Point different feeds at different teams so each conversation gets only what concerns it: the support team gets the status page, the sales team gets the blog, the engineering team gets the changelog.

The temptation with any webhook destination is to send everything everywhere because it costs nothing to add another Target. It costs something on the receiving end, though. A team that mutes a conversation because it fills with irrelevant links has lost the channel for the updates that did matter. Most content systems publish per-category feeds; using them is the difference between a useful integration and one somebody turns off.

Feeds worth connecting

The feeds that justify a channel are the ones somebody would otherwise have to check by hand:

  • Status pages. Almost every hosting provider, payment processor and SaaS vendor publishes an incident feed. An operations conversation is where those belong.
  • Your own publishing. Sales and support should not learn about a new article from a customer.
  • Release notes. A changelog feed turns a document nobody opens into a message people see.
  • Vendor advisories. Security and compliance feeds have a natural home in a restricted conversation.
  • Industry news, filtered. A keyword-filtered news feed beats fifteen people subscribing separately to the same newsletter.

What does not work is the whole company blog into a general team, which is how these integrations end up switched off in the second week.

Where RingCentral sits among the rest

RingCentral came to team chat from telephony rather than from the Slack-alternative market, and in a lot of organisations it is deployed because the phone system was, not because anyone compared chat tools. That is worth knowing when you connect a feed: your audience may not think of the app as a place they read things.

Practically, the integration behaves exactly like the others on the Professional plan — Mattermost, Zulip, Webex, Pumble, Flock, Zoho Cliq — because they all take an incoming webhook. If your organisation runs more than one of them after a merger or an acquisition, the same feed can serve all of them without extra work.

Check the feed before you check the integration

When a chat integration looks broken, the cause is usually upstream. Open your feed URL in a browser before assuming anything about the webhook.

  • Is there actually a new item? A feed that has not updated produces nothing, and that is correct behaviour.
  • Does the item have a usable title? The title carries the message in a chat channel; a feed that ships "Untitled" or a bare date produces posts nobody clicks.
  • Is the link absolute? Some generators emit relative links, which work on the site and break everywhere else.
  • Is it full text or a summary? Summary-only feeds are fine for a chat channel, where the link does the work, but worth knowing about.

Feed problems are fixed at the source, in your content system. No destination can repair a feed that never carried the information.

Setting it up, step by step

  1. Add the Incoming Webhook integration to the RingCentral team conversation that should receive the posts, and copy its URL.
  2. In PostRSS, open Accounts and choose Add new RingCentral Team Messaging account. Paste the webhook URL.
  3. Open Targets and click Add feed. One feed going to one destination is one Target.
  4. In Target settings, choose RingCentral Team Messaging and the account you just connected. Different feeds can point at different teams.
  5. Click Add source. Set Type to RSS feed and paste your feed address into Link. Save.
  6. Check the first item that arrives. PostRSS checks the feed every 5 minutes, and every minute on Enterprise plans.

What the channel sees

Each new feed item arrives as a message with its text and a link back to your article. It is deliberately compact: a working channel scrolls, and the job of the message is to say that something exists, not to reproduce it.

PostRSS publishes items that appear in the feed after the Target starts running. It does not import the back catalogue — the alternative would be a destination flooded with years of archive on its first day.

Which plan includes it

RingCentral Team Messaging is included from the Professional plan. Each destination you connect counts as one Target, and your plan decides how many Targets and how many posts a month you get. An annual subscription is cheaper than paying monthly. Current limits per tier are on the pricing page, and the full lineup of 66 networks is on the supported networks page. The RingCentral Team Messaging page has the short version of the setup.

When messages stop arriving

  • The webhook was deleted or regenerated. The old URL stops working immediately and nothing notifies you. Create a new one and update it in PostRSS.
  • The channel was archived or renamed. A webhook belongs to one channel; if it is gone, so is delivery.
  • Permissions changed. Whoever created the webhook may no longer have rights to that channel.
  • Nothing new in the feed. PostRSS posts items that appear after the Target starts running, so an unchanged feed correctly produces nothing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to build a RingCentral app?

No. The Incoming Webhook integration already exists; you add it to a team conversation and copy the URL it gives you. There is nothing to develop or submit for review.

Is the webhook URL sensitive?

Yes. It is the entire authorisation — anyone holding it can post into that conversation. Keep it out of shared documents and tickets.

Can I send different feeds to different teams?

Yes, and it is the recommended pattern. Each team conversation is a separate Target with its own webhook.

Can PostRSS read or reply to messages?

No. An incoming webhook only sends. PostRSS cannot see the conversation or respond to anything in it.

How soon do posts appear?

PostRSS checks each feed every 5 minutes on standard plans and every minute on Enterprise, so a new article normally arrives within a few minutes.

Which plan includes RingCentral Team Messaging?

The Professional plan, alongside the other team-chat destinations.

The bottom line

RingCentral Team Messaging connects through a standard incoming webhook: add the integration to a team conversation, paste the URL into PostRSS, and point a Target at the feed that team actually needs. It is included from the Professional plan.
