PostRSS connects to Instagram through Instagram Login, which means a professional Instagram account is enough on its own — no Facebook Page, no Business Manager, no linking two products together. If you have ever abandoned an Instagram tool because it demanded a Facebook Page first, this is the part that changed.
Instagram publishing is currently in testing while approval from Meta is pending.
For years the only way to publish to Instagram through an interface was the route that goes through Facebook. Meta treated an Instagram professional account as something attached to a Page, so every tool had to ask for the Page as well. In practice that meant three things people disliked:
Meta now offers two separate routes. The newer one, Instagram Login, is built for exactly this case: you authorise the Instagram account itself, and Meta’s own documentation states that this setup does not require a Facebook Page to be linked to the account.
PostRSS uses that newer route. The practical difference for you:
When you connect, Instagram shows you what is being requested. There are two items:
instagram_business_basic — the account’s name and id, so it can appear in your list of targets.instagram_business_content_publish — permission to publish a post.Messages and comments permissions exist in Instagram’s interface, and PostRSS deliberately does not ask for them. Every additional permission is something that has to be justified, reviewed and trusted — and publishing does not need them.
One requirement has not gone away: the account must be Business or Creator. Instagram does not allow publishing to personal accounts through any interface, so this is not something a tool can work around. Switching is free and takes seconds in the Instagram app under Settings and privacy → Account type and tools.
I already have a Facebook Page linked. Does that cause a problem?
No. A linked Page is simply ignored — PostRSS does not ask for it and does not use it.
Does this mean PostRSS cannot post to Facebook?
It can. Facebook is a separate network in PostRSS with its own connection. The two do not depend on each other.
Can I revoke access later?
Yes, from your Instagram settings. Publishing stops immediately, and PostRSS shows the target as inactive rather than retrying silently.
How long does the connection last?
Instagram issues a token that lasts 60 days, and PostRSS renews it automatically before it expires. You do not have to reconnect every two months.
An Instagram Business or Creator account is all you need. Create a free PostRSS account, connect Instagram and point your feed at it.
