How PostRSS Turns a Feed Item Into a Social Post

The process behind “instant” auto-posting is simple. You add your website’s RSS or Atom feed as a source and connect the accounts you want to publish to. PostRSS then checks the feed every 5 minutes on all plans, or every minute on Enterprise plans. When a new item appears, it becomes a native post on each connected network, with the item’s link and its real image, taken from the feed item or from the Open Graph tags of the linked page.

You decide what the post says. There are nine message formats, built from the item title, the item description, the page title or your own static text. You can also add query parameters such as utm_source=postrss to every link, so your analytics shows which network sent each visitor.

Setting Up Your First Automated Feed

1. Create an account and open your PostRSS dashboard.
2. Connect a network, for example a Facebook Page, through the platform’s own login flow.

4. Choose the message format and schedule, then activate the target. From then on, every new item is posted without any further action.

If you use WordPress, PrestaShop or OpenCart, the official plugins build the feed and create the targets for you, so you do not even need to copy a feed address.

Fine-Tuning What Gets Posted

Not every item in a feed belongs on every network. PostRSS lets you set keyword filters for each source, to include or exclude items by words in their title and description. You can publish newer or older items first, or in random order, and limit the maximum number of posts per update. Categories and tags from your feed items can become hashtags, up to a set limit, on networks where hashtags make sense. On paid plans, posting windows let you publish only between chosen hours, or at exact times on chosen days in your time zone.

One feed can also feed several targets, each with its own settings: a short title-only post for X, a longer description for Facebook, and an image-first Pin for Pinterest, all from the same article.
